About Yoga
At YogaVibe we teach Hatha and Vinyasa yoga classes.

Classes cater for the absolute beginner with a range of beginner classes offered and mixed level classes cater for the beginner to the more experienced practitioner.

Our classes are strongly influenced by Astanga Vinyasa Yoga, Iyengar Yoga and Anusara Yoga. We continue to be inspired by teachers such as Shiva Rea, Baron Baptiste, John Friend, BKS Iyengar.

YogaVibe has a class to suit people of all ages and fitness levels.

Hatha Yoga
Hatha yoga is the physical practice of yoga including many styles from Iyengar, Power, Bikram, Jivamukti, Anusara and so on. This practice consists of asanas (postures) which are taught with an emphasis on correct alignment working within each students own capabilities. Pranayama (breath techniques) and meditation practices are also taught to help students deal with the everyday stresses of life.

Vinyasa Yoga
This style is a flowing yoga practice where breath and asana (postures) are synchronized. The combination of breathing and asanas create internal heat necessary for purification of organs and the nervous system. This practice is dynamic and challenging. Not for the faint hearted.

Prenatal Yoga
Learn to connect with your baby and to accept and feel at ease with your changing body shape. Students are at different stages of pregnancy so for new Mum's to-be there is a chance to interact with other Mum's to be.

Focus of this class is on relaxing, breathing, stretching and strengthening. Pelvic floor exercises are also practiced.

The asanas (postures) can help relieve morning sickness, fluid retention, high blood pressure and backache and at the same time build strength in the muscles and add mobility to the joints.

It is a good idea to check with your healthcare professional before commencing this class, especially if you have had complications with your pregnancy.

Yin Yoga
Yin and Yang are the opposite end of the same stick, so to speak. These two aspects always co exist, and you cannot have one without the other.

Much of the yoga taught in the west and at our studio is yang practice- active practice that primarily focuses on movement and muscular contraction. This type of movement is exactly what builds muscle and to some degree flexibility. Exercise such as swimming and running are also yang.

A basic Yin yoga practice will incorporate forward bends, hip openers and twists. Yin yoga can be practised by anyone, no matter what your flexibility is, strength and age. There is no wrong way in Yin yoga, everyone is just different. Another important factor in Yin yoga is relax, relax, relax...

Yoga Nidra
This class is suitable for all. No experience neccessary.

Yoga Nidra is known as the yogic sleep or sleep with awareness. Yoga Nidra is an ancient practice intended to induce full body relaxation and a deep meditative state of consciousness. During Yoga Nidra you will be guided by your teacher to rotate your consciousness through the different parts of the body. Yoga Nidra is instructed in a very systematic way; once the rotated consciousness is completed your awareness is bought to the breath, next comes relaxation on the plane of feelings and emotions. The last stage is when yoga nidra induces mental relaxation through visualization. This practice develops self awareness and relaxes the mind.

Kids Yoga

In a yoga for kid's classes, there is a balance between spontaneity and structure, so that kids learn to listen to each other as well as express themselves creatively. We believe that kids learn best when they're having fun, so yoga for kids classes interweave story, song, games and poses allowing children to learn in a multi-sensory environment which explores kinaesthetic, visual arual, intr-personal learning. This makes yoga much more fun!

In a yoga class children often go on a magical journeys around the world, learning about many cultures in the process.
